You can register for programs at the Rahway Senior Center, Rahway Recreation Center, or you can Register Online. Most classes are $5.00 for Rahway seniors and $50 for non-residents.

Senior Property Tax Freeze 

Senior Property Tax Freeze
The Property Tax Reimbursement Program (PTR) reimburses eligible senior citizens and disabled person for property tax increases.  This state program “freezes” your taxes the year you become eligible and every year thereafter you are reimbursed the difference.  You must be 65 (the first year you can apply is the year you turn 67) and lived in your current home for three years.  If you are not currently enrolled in this program, please call (732)827-2016 and make an appointment with an AARP Tax Specialist.  The income limit for filing is $150,000 for 2022 and 2023.

Senior Handyman Program

Open to Rahway residents ages 62 and over for small home repairs (light carpentry, leaky faucet, smoke alarm installation, etc.) No yard work, emergency services, house cleaning, or roof repair Labor is provided free; you pay for materials only To register, please visit the Senior Center or call 732-827-2016. Mayor Giacobbe's Birthday Club

One of the City of Rahway's favorite events run by the Division of Senior Services is Mayor Giacobbe's Birthday Luncheon. Depending on the month of your birthday, you and a guest will be invited to the Rahway Senior Center and treated to pizza along with other members of the Club. To register, please call 732-827-2016. Everyone registered will receive an invitation in the mail with the date and time of the Birthday Luncheon.
