Pet Licenses

Rahway licenses both cats and dogs 

General Information

Important information for pet licenses:

  • Proof of rabies vaccination must be presented and be valid through October of the licensing year.
  • Dog must be 7 months of age or older.
  • Cat must be 6 months of age or older.
  • Cat and dog licensing begins January 1st of each year and expire December 31st of the licensing year.
  • Cats and dogs shall be licensed yearly.
  • A late fee of $5.00 will be assessed on March 1st of the licensing year.

Licensing ensures that your pet has a current rabies vaccination and provides peace of mind that other pets in the community are also protected against this fatal disease. When licensing your pet, you are provided a sturdy metal tag to attach to your pet's collar. This tag will provide quick identification of your pet and ensure its quick return to your family if it ever gets lost.
