Please follow these instructions carefully and prepare the following documents to submit with this application:
1. a clear copy of a current and valid driver's license
2. a clear copy of current and valid vehicle insurance
3. a clear, face-front photo of the applicant against a solid background; a driver's license photo is NOT acceptable.
License fee: $50 per truck. The City Clerk does not accept credit cards. Payment can be made in person (check, money order, cash) or by mail (check, money order). Please make check or money order payable to: City of Rahway.
NOTE: The City Clerk fee is separate from any fee paid to the event coordinator/host, and separate from Health and/or Fire Department inspection fees.
The application must be received no less than 2 weeks before the event or will be subject to a $50 late fee
NO INSPECTIONS WILL TAKE PLACE UNTIL APPLICANT HAS SUCCESSFULLY PASSED THE BACKGROUND CHECK.
HEALTH INSPECTION: Food trucks that exclusively sell factory-packaged goods are not required to obtain a Health Department inspection; it is required for all other food vendors. The health inspection fee is $100.00. Once you have passed the background check, you will be notified to complete the Temporary Food Service Application (PDF) and contact the Health Department to schedule an inspection.
FIRE INSPECTION: If the food truck uses a propane tank or other combustible device, an inspection by the Fire Department in required. The fire inspection fee is $50.00 for non-residents; there is no cost to vendors with business addresses within the City of Rahway. Once you have passed the background check, you will be notified to complete the Fire Safety Permit Application (PDF) and contact the Fire Department to schedule inspection.
