With the holiday season upon us, the Rahway Special Improvement District is working hard to ensure that our City is fun, festive, and inviting for Rahway residents, businesses, and visitors of our City. Elton Armady (Economic Development Officer for the City of Rahway and Rahway’s Special Improvement District) along with his team and Christmas Designers Holiday Decorating, have been working enthusiastically to ensure that Rahway’s downtown festively represents the spirit of our residents and businesses for the holidays.

The trees in front of City Hall Plaza will be decorated with thousands of LED lights. The main Christmas tree, which is the focal point, will officially be lit at the Annual Tree Lighting on Friday, November 26th at 7PM, but festivities begin in our downtown at 5pm. Downtown lamp posts will be embellished with red and green lights downtown. Train Station Plaza will also be decorated with lights, wreaths, and holiday characters for the holiday season. In total, over 100,000 lights will be installed throughout Rahway’s downtown.

As the City of Rahway continues to return to normalcy after the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Raymond Giacobbe and the Rahway City Council joyously requested that downtown Rahway be “lit up like Rockefeller Center for the community to enjoy and to attract more visitors to our local businesses and events throughout the holiday season.”

Elton Armady took this request back to his department and he, along with his team, went to work to execute the Mayor and Council’s vision. “I am looking forward to lighting up Rahway with holiday cheer both figuratively and literally for the benefit of the Rahway community, its businesses and patrons. I encourage everyone to continue to shop small this holiday season and beyond.”
