Juvenile Bureau

Mission Statement:

The Juvenile Bureau is responsible for conducting investigations involving the vulnerable youth population of our city where crimes and acts of delinquency involve juveniles as both victims and offenders. The bureau conducts both proactive and reactive investigations with cooperation from various outside agencies. The bureau relies heavily on the department’s core values of Respect, Integrity, and Professionalism to help foster better police-youth cooperation.

Make the Vision your Purpose:

The “Make the Vision your Purpose” (MVP) mentorship program created by Detective Sidra Colvin assists in developing and guiding the children through young adulthood. The 5-to-10-week program consists of utilizing workshops that promote self-love, personal goal setting, leadership, community outreach, health, wellness, and etiquette.

Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence:

The Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence (L.E.A.D.) course is completed by bureau personnel to further expand on their community outreach to serve as both an officer and educator to our youth. The L.E.A.D. program develops a framework of social and emotional skills that promote positive, pro-social attitudes and behaviors, while fostering healthy relationships, resistance to substance abuse and conflict, and resistance to negative peer pressure and influence.
